Press Release

Every minute 20 people leave everything behind to escape war, persecution, or terror.

Madison Heights, MI; June 3, 2019: World Refugee Day, held every year on June 20th, will

be observed on June 18, 2018 by Refuge for Nations and AgroBiz.org commemorating the

strength, courage and perseverance of millions of refugees. This year, World Refugee Day also

marks a key moment for the public to show support for families forced to flee. According to

Cynthia Khan, “In a world where violence forces thousands of families to flee for their lives

each day, the time is now to show that the global public stands with refugees, asylum seekers,

and internally displaced persons with women empowerment and job creation training”.

Refuge for Nations (RefugeforNations.com) is a nonprofit social enterprise committed to

empowering refugee and immigrant women in the U.S. providing all the support needed for

women to not just survive, but to thrive in the new life ahead of them. From breaking down

language barriers with our ESL (English as a Second Language) courses to learning skilled

trades that leads to eventual employment, such as industrial sewing & entrepreneurship.

AgroBiz (Agrobiz.org) an organization providing global sustainable development goals

awareness, women’s empowerment, agricultural training and sparking entrepreneurship with

Potential, Passion, Profitability & Purpose. are working in tandem. Thus, both organizations

inspire women with the tools needed to build a meaningful life for themselves as well as their

families.

“You are not defined by your situation but, by your reaction to them”, Tee Thompson shares is

the secret to transforming meaningful lifestyles. Transformation begins for these refugee and

immigrant women on Tuesday, June 18th from 10:00am – 12:30pm, at Wayne County

Community College District (WCCCD) Eastern Campus, 5901 Conner St, Detroit, Michigan

48213, with free industrial sewing classes for women from any county – including Macomb,
